International Students
Western Connecticut State University welcomes applications from international students who reside outside the United States. To apply you must submit the application, a $50 application fee and official test scores from one of the following, SAT, ACT, TOEFL, IELTS or MELAB. The Office of Admissions recommends that applicants from English speaking countries take the SAT or ACT and applicants from non-English speaking countries take the TOEFL or IELTS. In addition to the aforementioned materials, all freshman (students with no prior college course work) applicants must submit an official document by document transcript evaluation, and all transfer (students with college course work) applicants must submit an official course by course transcript evaluation from one of our acknowledged credit evaluation services listed below.
Testing Options
All international applicants whether from an English speaking country or not must provide proof of English writing proficiency. You may use one of the following exams as proof.
SAT
The Scholastic Aptitude Test minimum scores required for consideration are, 510 for the Critical Reading (CR) and 510 for the Writing (W) sections.

The American College Test minimum scores required for consideration are, 21 for the English and 21 for the optional Writing sections.

TOEFL
The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), is an exam that is administered in three different formats. Below are the minimum scores required (for each format) in order to be considered for admission.

IELTS
The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) minimum score required for admission consideration is 6.

All new students planning to enter the University in the fall must submit application materials before March 1. Students wishing to enroll in the spring must submit all materials before October 1.
Students already enrolled in a U.S. college or university should submit admission materials as outlined in the Admissions Transfer Application Procedure.
The International Services Coordinator assists international students with personal, academic, social and financial matters.
