Letter from the Dean
Earn distinction... Ensure success
Welcome to Western Connecticut State University's Division of Graduate Studies. WestConn has long been a regional
leader in providing graduate education in business, arts and sciences and professional studies. The Division of Graduate
Studies offers an outstanding faculty, curricula and programs of high quality, state-of -the-art technology, convenient
and flexible course scheduling, and a comfortable learning environment.
Our mission is to provide graduate students with the skills, knowledge and ability to meet the highest standards in
their personal, professional and civic lives. WestConn's graduate faculty members are actively engaged in scholarship in
their respective field, and this process enriches their commitment to student learning.
Additionally, the Division of Graduate Studies partners with community leaders, employing organizations, and legislative
liaisons to ensure that all stakeholders' needs are represented and that our curricula are responsive to emerging
trends.
A Coordinator, who is a qualified faculty member of the university, heads each of our graduate programs. Coordinators
serve as the first academic contact persons for prospective students, and provide academic advisement to current
students. Additionally, these faculty members represent their graduate programs to the academic department, their school
and to the university at large. Please see the list of Graduate Coordinators and their contact information provided at
this site if you would like to find out more about a particular program.
For information about graduate programs in general, to apply for admission, or to contact me, please call (203) 837-8243, or e-mail me at durnine@wcsu.edu. I look forward to discussing WestConn's graduate programs with you.
Sincerely,
Ellen D. Durnin, Ph.D.
