Western Connecticut State University is pleased to announce that applications are being accepted for an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse position. University Health Services provides quality primary and preventive health care in a culturally diverse context while striving to promote health awareness for our students and academic community.

  

The APRN performs appropriate healthcare assessment, health care management, and oversees the delivery of clinical services in collaboration with the Medical Director. Specific responsibilities include performing comprehensive physical assessment of students/patients to address healthcare concerns, identifying actual or potential health problems, assessing and analyzing clinical signs and symptoms, diagnosing actual/potential health problems, maintaining proper clinical records and reports, independently prescribing, dispensing, and/or administering appropriate medication, corrective measures, and medical therapeutics, and more.

  

Qualifications: A current license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse issued by the Connecticut Department of Public Health is required as are two years experience as an APRN in College Health, Primary Care Medicine, or other related fields. The ability to interact effectively with others; interest in and ability to relate to college age students and the ability to work autonomously as well as in collaboration with other members of the health care team within the University Health Service are also required. Good written and verbal communication skills as well as excellent computer skills are required.
