Tenure-Track Faculty Position 

Academic Year 2010-11

  

New academic programs, new construction projects, and increasing student enrollment all serve to make Western Connecticut State University a vibrant, active campus serving 6,000 undergraduate and graduate students. WestConn is one of the four comprehensive universities that comprise the Connecticut State University System. The main campus is located in Danbury, 50 miles north of New York City. The University is divided into the School of Arts & Sciences, the School of Professional Studies, the Ancell School of Business and the School of Visual and Performing Arts. Among public colleges and universities in Connecticut, WestConn has the fastest growing enrollment. WestConn’s Management Department includes ten full-time faculty, plus adjunct instructors, who provide a BBA Management major and a Master of Health Administration degree and also support our MBA program. Contingent upon available funding, the Department is accepting applications for a tenure-track position, beginning August 2010.  Teaching assignments may include strategic management, entrepreneurship /small business, organizational behavior and other general management courses.  Teaching load may be split between the Bachelor’s programs at our Danbury and Waterbury campuses and the Master’s of Business Administration program.  Scholarly activity and university service expected. 

 

Qualifications: Primary consideration will be given to candidates with an earned doctorate in Management, preferably from an AACSB accredited institution.  Secondary consideration will be given to candidates in their final stage ABDs in Management, preferably from AACSB accredited institutions.  College teaching experience is preferred.  Candidates must present evidence of research and publication and an active agenda of scholarship.  Candidates should be professionally active and/or engaged in college / university service.  Business or managerial experience is a plus. Western Connecticut State University is a dynamic, diverse workplace and the ability to work with students, faculty and staff from diverse backgrounds and cultures is highly preferred.

 

Salary and benefits: Western offers competitive salaries commensurate with candidates’ experience and a comprehensive benefit package. Rank is at the Assistant or Associate level dependent upon qualifications, per our collective bargaining agreement.
