Dec. 4	JAZZ LECTURE:  Guitarist and composer John Scofield will discuss his career as an internationally acclaimed jazz musician at 4:30 p.m. in Room 127 of White Hall on the university's Midtown campus, 181 White St. in Danbury. Guests who purchase a ticket to the Jazz Combos concert scheduled at 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 4, are invited to attend the lecture. For more information, call (203) 837-8350. Dec. 8	FACULTY RECOGNITION CEREMONY (WestConn faculty and staff only):  WestConn will host a Faculty Recognition Ceremony that will include the presentation of the third Teaching Excellence Award at a reception at 4 p.m. in Warner Hall on the university's Midtown campus, 181 White St. in Danbury. The ceremony will be free and open to WestConn faculty and staff only. For more information, call (203) 837-8486.
Dec. 10	SCIENCE-AT-NIGHT PRESENTATION:  A panel that will include faculty from the department of biological and environmental sciences and members of the Candlewood Lake Authority, the Candlewood Lake Users and Boaters Association, the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station, the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection and FirstLight Power Resources Inc. will discuss "Deep Draw-Downs and Management of Eurasian Watermilfoil at Candlewood Lake" at 7 p.m. in Room 125 of the Science Building on the WestConn Midtown campus, 181 White St. in Danbury. VISITOR PARKING ADVISORY: Western Connecticut State University offers several convenient, centrally located parking spaces for visitors to the university’s Midtown and Westside campuses in Danbury. Midtown visitor parking is in the lot next to Old Main and in designated spaces next to University Hall. Parking in the university’s White Street garage is restricted to commuter students, faculty and staff from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday; visitors are welcome to park in the garage all other times. Westside visitor parking is on University Boulevard. Visitors who cannot be accommodated in these parking areas are asked to call the University Police Department to make other arrangements.
