Lionel Assie earns NJAC Offensive Player of the Week honors after propelling the Colonials to their first victory of the season, a 45-44 NJAC win over Brockport. In the victory, he averaged 11.0 yards per attempt with 143 rushing yards on 13 carries.
He also recorded three touchdown runs of 1, 48, and 35 yards apiece to help Western Connecticut claim its first victory since October 4, 2008. Assie currently ranks 14th in the NJAC in rushing with an average of 35.6 yards per game.

Jeff Johnston earns NJAC Offensive Rookie of the Week honors after contributing to the Colonials’ 45-44 NJAC victory over Brockport.
He averaged 16.2 yards per catch, with 81 total receiving yards on five receptions, including a 15-yard touchdown for the second score of his collegiate career. Johnston, who produced a season-long 30-yard reception in the victory, currently ranks 24th in the NJAC in receiving yards per game (32.0).
