Keene State scored three second-half goals to defeat WestConn, 3-0
KEENE, N.H. - (Oct. 25)— After a scoreless 70 minutes of play, the Keene State College men's soccer team, behind a pair of goals from Joe Senecal within two minutes of each other, survived a scare from Western Connecticut State University on Sunday afternoon. The Owls went on to blank the Colonials, 3-0 and secured the 2009 Little East Conference regular-season title and number one seed in the LEC Tournament.
Senecal scored at 70:59 off a feed from Shawn Shand then 1:49 later notched his second marker of the half, off a pass from Bobby Saraf.
Shand added an insurance goal in the 81st minute when he deposited the ball after Saraf found him open.
Tom Conran earned the shut out in net for the Owls after making three saves.
Angelo Tsingerliotis (Norwalk, CT), who held the powerful KSC offense at bay before the barrage, made seven saves in the loss.
The Owls held a 21-7 advantage on shots on the afternoon.
WestConn travels to Springfield College for a non-league game on Wednesday, October 28. Game time is slated for 7 pm with The Pride.
