Katie Meleg and Nicole Olmstead earn Little East weekly honors

Katie Meleg won eight individual and one relay event as Western Connecticut posted a 1-2 mark this past week. The Danbury, Conn. native won multiple events in each meet, including three individual races against Plymouth State and Hunter College. She touched the wall first in 100 backstroke against Eastern Connecticut, the Hawks, and Panthers with her fastest time coming against the Warriors (1:02.77). She also captured the 500 freestyle event against Plymouth State and Eastern Connecticut.

In Western Connecticut’s victory over Hunter on Friday night, Nicole Olmstead swept the diving events. The Southbury, Conn. native captured the one meter event with a score of 182.25 points, while winning the high plank with 161.63 total points. The following afternoon, she won the three-meter event with 168.15 points, while placing second on the short plank with 160.15 points against Plymouth State.
