WestConn women's tennis cruises to victory over Bard, 7-2
DANBURY, CT (Sep. 18) — The Western Connecticut State University women's tennis team improved to 2-1 on the season with a convincing 7-2 victory over visiting Bard College on Friday afternoon at Westside Courts.
The Colonials took two of three doubles matches then went on to capture five of the six scheduled singles affairs.
Lauren Post and Jenna Kosiba defeated Sofia Commito and Chloe Stergides at the number one doubles, 8-4 while the Hoynack sisters, Brittany and Alyssa defeated Lian Mitlyn-Day and Rabia Hashimi, 8-3 at #2 pairs.
After dropping her first set at #1 singles to Commito, Post came back to win, 4-6, 6-3 and 6-2. Brittany and Alyssa Hoynack captured #2 and #3 singles, respectively while Ali Mahony and Brittany DiMauro closed out the match with wins at #4 and #6 solos.
Mahoney defeated Hashmi, 3-6, 6-0, 7-5 and DiMauro edged out Jennifer Hodge, 6-4 and 6-3.
WestConn will make up its match at UMass Boston, that was rained out last Sunday, on Saturday, September 19.
