Women's tennis stays perfect in Little East with 7-2 win over Southern Maine

DANBURY, CT (Oct. 10) — The Western Connecticut State University women's tennis team remains undefeated in the Little East Conference following its 7-2 victory over University of Southern Maine at windy Westside Courts on Saturday afternoon.

Senior Brittany Hoynack (Old Lyme, CT) improved to 7-1 on the season at number two singles after defeating Katylyn Ouellette, 7-5, 6-2.

WestConn, 8-2 overall and 5-0 in the LEC, captured four other singles matches including Lauren Post (Danbury, CT) cruising to a 6-1, 6-3 victory at top singles. Alyssa Hoynack (Old Lyme, CT) defeated Tegan Talbot, 6-2, 6-0 at third singles. Ali Mohony (Bristol, CT) came from behind to win a three-set thriller over Erica Robertson, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4. Jenna Kosiba (Bristol, CT) needed little time to defeat Sam Tardif, 6-0, 6-2.

Southern Maine's Laura Bell captured sixth singles with a 1-6, 6-4, 6-2 marathon over Brittany DiMauro (Torrington, CT).

Robertston and Bell earned the Huskies' other win with an 8-0 blanking to Maxx Zimmer (Sandy Hook, CT) and Elizabeth Bonacci (Danbury, CT).

Post and Kosiba defeated Ouellette and Talbot, 8-4 at number one doubles while the Hoynack sisters defeated Bammer and Tardif, 8-3.

WestConn travel to St. Joseph College in Hartford on Wednesday, October 14 for a 3:30 pm match.
