Faculty Biographical Sketches
Joseph Oyeniyi Aina, Department of Nursing
Dr. Joseph Aina is an Assistant Professor of the Department of Nursing. He joined the Department in the Fall of 1999 after teaching for 22 years at the University of Ibadan in Nigeria. His principal teaching assignment is psychiatric-mental health nursing but he has also taught research at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. He has written extensively with over 44 scholarly works, conference papers and book chapters. He is active both in the University and the community, serving on a number of departmental and university committees and community advisory boards. His present research interest includes mental health and the homelessness. Dr. Aina has a B.S. degree in Nursing from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, a M.S. Degree in Nursing from Hunter College, City University of New York, and a doctorate in Higher Education Administration from New York University. Dr. Aina received the 2003 Educator’s Award from the Southern Connecticut Black Nurses Association.
