Faculty Biographical Sketches

Carolynn Bruno , Department of Nursing

Ms. Carolynn Bruno joined the WSCU faculty as Assistant Professor of Nursing in the Fall of 2007.  Ms. Bruno has been in nursing for twenty-two years.  The main concentration of her clinical interest is in the area of critical care with emphasis in cardiovascular nursing. 

Ms. Bruno graduated from Fairfield University in 1985 with a BSN degree in nursing.  She received a Master’s Degree in Nursing from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1989.  She graduated as a Clinical Nurse Specialist from its Adult Health and Illness program and matriculated in Critical Care Nursing.  Currently, she attends Sacred Heart University and is expected to graduate with a Family Nurse Practitioner degree in May of 2008.

Clinical nursing expertise includes caring for ICU patients undergoing cardiothoracic surgery, organ transplantation and neurological/trauma intervention at the Hospital of UPENN.  Carolynn has managed nursing staff in critical care units at Greenwich Hospital.  She has also enjoyed the role of Critical Care Educator there. She has held Critical Care Registered Nurse status as a member of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses.  She has enjoyed teaching Health Assessment to undergraduate nursing students at Sacred Heart University as Adjunct Faculty.  Most recently, she has taught students at Bridgeport Hospital’s School of Nursing as Adjunct Clinical Instructor. She is active in the community and church activities which include supporting children’s programs and mission outreach.
