Faculty Biographical Sketches

Deborah Lajoie, Department of Nursing

Mrs. Debra Lajoie has been a member of the WCSU faculty since 2000, first in the role of adjunct clinical faculty and joining the full-time faculty as Assistant Professor in 2004. She received her diploma in 1975 from the Meriden-Wallingford Hospital School of Nursing, her BSN in 1985 from WCSU, MSN in 1999 from WCSU and is currently a doctoral student at the University of Wisconsin/Milwaukee. Clinical practice experiences include many diverse areas as critical care/emergency care, interventional radiology, surgical services and community/public health and research. Mrs. Lajoie is currently a member of American Association of Critical Care Nurses, Sigma Theta Tau and the American Nurses Association and the Connecticut Nurses Association. Areas of research interest include healthcare policy and law, evidence-based practice and translating research into policy, healthcare access and healthcare disparities, and the economics of healthcare, completing the Washington Healthcare Policy Institute in 2004. Mrs. Lajoie is an active member of the community serving on multiple boards and community events.
