Faculty Biographical Sketches
Joan Palladino, Department of Nursing
Ms. Joan Palladino joins the WCSU staff in the Fall 2004. Ms. Palladino has been a nurse for 24 years working primarily in critical care. She earned her BSN from St. Joseph College in West Hartford, Connecticut in 1980, and an MSN in nursing education from the University of Hartford in 2004. In April 2004 Ms. Palladino was inducted into the Nursing Honor Society, Sigma Theta Tau. She received the peer recognition award from her fellow MSN graduates in May 2004. She is presently a doctoral student in the Ed.D. Program at the University of Hartford. Joan is a member of American Nurses Association, the Connecticut Nurses’ Association and the American Association of Critical Care Nurses. She has been a Certified Critical Care Nurse (CCRN) since 1999. Joan taught the past 3 years in the Licensed Practical Nurse Program at Eli Whitney RVTS, and is also a part-time clinical instructor/ mentor at Waterbury Hospital Health Center. Her areas of research interest include mentoring programs for both student nurses and new graduate nurses. She has participated in the Nurses Health Study from Harvard School of Public health for the past 15 years. Joan is active in the community and church, and volunteers with the pastoral services at Waterbury Hospital.
