Faculty Biographical Sketches

Robert Veneziano, Department of Social Work

Dr. Rob Veneziano, who is an Associate Professor in Social Work, and received his B.A. degree from Southern Connecticut State University and his MSW and Ph.D. from the University of Connecticut. From 1995-2000, he was an Assistant Professor at Saint Joseph College in West Hartford, CT. His teaching areas include all aspects of social work education, including research methods, cultural diversity, policy seminar, social work methods, and practicum seminars. He serves as the Secretary/Treasurer of the Society for Cross-Cultural Research, a national organization of psychologists, anthropologists, social workers, and other professionals. He also serves on several university committees, (e.g., Chair of Distance Education Committee). Examples of his service involvement at the local and state levels include the United Way of Danbury and the Advisory Board of the State Department of Children & Families Training Academy. Dr. Veneziano’s research interests in fathers and father-child relationships has resulted in a number of peer-reviewed publications, including the recently co-authored article (2001), The importance of father love: History and contemporary evidence in Review of General Psychology. Dr. Veneziano has also presented papers at local, state, and national conferences, including those sponsored by such organizations as the Society for Cross-Cultural Research, the Baccalaureate Social Work Program Directors, the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy, and local youth and education councils. Dr. Veneziano serves professionally as an officer of the Society of Cross Cultural Research, and is a peer manuscript reviewer for Journal of Marriage and the Family.
