E-Learning at WestConn
For the past several years, WestConn has been using WebCT (a system-wide initiative) as its e-Learning course management system. It allows faculty to supplement their on-ground courses with online components, or to use for fully online courses.
With the recent merger of Blackboard and WebCT, references to the course management system may be referred to as either Blackboard Vista or WebCT Vista in our current documentation. WestConn is currently using WebCT (Blackboard) 3, and plans to upgrade to Blackboard Vista 4 in January 2008.
Virtual Course Environment
Blackboard Vista is an academic enterprise system that supports online learning. The tools and components built into Vista combine to support students, course designers, administrators and instructors with their online instructional activities. With a standard Web browser, students and instructors can login from anywhere in the world to access their class materials and interact with one another.
Blackboard Vista includes a virtual course environment built to support different teaching styles and learning needs. Blackboard Vista is designed to provide the tools for faculty to prepare, deliver, and manage their courses. Institutions of all sizes — even the largest educational systems or consortia — can reliably scale their e-learning programs, create powerful efficiencies enterprise-wide, and support the growing demands of all academic constituents.
We look forward to working with you.
