Annual Nursing Tea
WestConn at Waterbury hosted its annual Nursing Tea for Naugatuck Valley Community College (NVCC) nursing students ready to receive an associate’s degree and eligible to sit for their registered nurse (RN) license. The event was hosted by Dr. Ellen Durnin, Western Connecticut State University’s dean of Graduate Studies and External Programs, and Dr. Barbara Piscopo, WestConn at Waterbury’s RN-to-BSN program coordinator.
WestConn at Waterbury and NVCC have developed a program that allows RNs who graduate from the community college to immediately begin work on a bachelor of science in nursing at the university. WestConn delivers this RN to BSN bachelor-completion program, as well as one that leads to a BBA in Supervisory Management, on the campus of Naugatuck Valley Community College in Waterbury. NVCC students also may enroll in WestConn courses through the university’s “cross-registration program”, which allows full-time NVCC students to take up to six credits with WestConn for free.
The Tea was held in "Cutrali Commons", the function room at Founders Hall, which was designed by Debra Kinnane, WestConn assistant director of planning and engineering.
